Course Objective:
Business ethics is one of the most important concerns in today’s business world. In simple terms we define business ethics as comprising moral principles and standards that guide behavior in the world of business. Personal values that an individual learns through socialization may not provide specific guidelines for complex business decisions. Even deciding what constitutes an ethical issue is often difficult. The purpose of this course is to help students improve their ability to make ethical decisions in business by providing a framework for them to identify, analyse, and control ethical issues in business decision making.
This course emphasizes ethics’ role in doing business. While it covers fundamental ethical theories it also aims to provide students the essential ethical philosophy behind them. Moreover, it provides knowledge how these issues apply to specific cases. There is no single answer to what is right, and what is wrong. The scope of this course is then to present useful ethical theories to business students (who are going to be business practitioners in the near future), and to improve their skills both in analysing concrete moral issues and deciding upon strategies for solving moral dilemmas.
